Based on the lattice gas theory, a new coordination number model and an expressionof configuration energy for mixture consisting of square-well molecules are developed. Thecalculation results based on the new models agree well with the Monte Carlo computersimulation data of Lee et al. By extending the new coordination number and configurationenergy models to chainlike molecules, and substituting into the integration formula of meanpotential in the modified generalized van der Waals partition function for mixture of chainlikemolecules, corresponding mixing rule for energy parameter in the simplified perturbed hardchain equation of state are derived. A cubic simplified perturbed hard chain equation ofstate has been applied with the new mixing rule and better prediction have been achievedfor the multi-phase equilibrium for reservoir fluid systems.
