Chen Duxiu's Historical Contribution to the Foundation of CCP

陈独秀在五四运动的激荡洪流中高举起马克思主义的伟大旗帜,引导先进知识分子由民主主义者向马克思主义者转化;他身体力行积极从事工人运动,促进马克思主义同中国工人运动的结合;他不顾反动派的打压,全身心地投入到筹建共产党的行动中,并为扩大共产党的组织不懈地努力奋斗;他坚持马克思主义的建党原则,注重从思想组织上建党,保证了中国共产党的无产阶级性质。

Chen Duxiu, the pioneer of the Chinese Communist Party （CCP）, has played an outstanding role in the foundation of the CCP. By holding high the great banner of Marxism in the mighty torrent of the May 4^th Movement of 1919, he guided the advanced intellectuals to transform from the demoeratists to the Marxists. He earnestly practised the workers＇ movement, promoted the combination of Marxism and the workers＇ movement. Chen Duxiu showed no consideration of the strikes and retaliation of the reactionaries and devoted himself to the organization and preparation of the establishment of the CCP and strived unremittingly to enlarge the organization the CCP. In the proeess of the Party＂ s establishment, he adhered to the Marxism＇ s founding principles, laid stress on establishing the Party in ideology so as to avoid the harm of the revisionism and other artificial socialism and thus assured the proletarian qualities of the CCP.
