Three Issues in Translating and Introducing Shakespeare's Plays

无论是散文体还是诗体,只要是准确、优秀的译本都能传递莎翁原剧的精华。莎剧是经典,应有准确精当的案头汉语译本,以供人们学习、欣赏和研究;同时莎剧又是供演出的,还应有适合中国文化特色,甚至地方剧种特色的舞台演出汉译本。

It has long been debated in China whether Shakespeare＇s plays should be translated in prose style or in poetic form. The author thinks the best version is the correct translation. Shakespeare＇ s plays are classics, so we need further new versions that will be more exact and closer to the playwright＇s original meanings for Chinese readers to learn and study, enjoy and appreciate. Shakespeare＇s plays are also for acting so we also need the performing versions appropriate to the Chinese operas.
