《老子》校正一则——“可名于大”当为“何名于大”之误

A Piece of Correction of Lao Zi

《老子》三十四章的“可名于大”是由“何名于大”讹来的,由于这一讹误的存在,使此章的经义十分难解。前人尽管做出了种种努力,但是由于不知讹误的存在,或者虽感有讹误而不知讹误在什么地方,所以直到目前仍无正确的解释。

The word ＂may（可）＂ in the sentence ＂it may（可） be called bigness＂ in the thirty-fourth chapter in Lao Zi is the misunderstanding of the word ＂why （何） ＂. Because of this, the meaning of the chapter is difficult for readers to understand. Though predecessors tried to explain the meaning again and again, they did not perceive the existence of the error or did not know where the error is, so now we can not find any correct explanation yet.
