Since the end of the WWII, divergence of views has been in existence between Japan and various countries in Asia with regard to the understanding and interpretation on the history issues and that gap between them is getting wider and wider. The invariable cause is rooted inseparably from the US policy toward Japan. The US connived at Japan's non-admission of its war crimes during the occupation of Japan by the US. During the periods of San Francisco Peace Convention to the Cold War, the US put Japan under its protection and gave it support. After the end of the Cold War, the US has instigated and helped Japan to become a 'normal state.' The US policy toward Japan will remain permanently so out of the need of its geopolitical strategy. As a result, differences in the understanding and interpretation of history issues in China-Japan relations will exist for a long time to come.
