In Jane Eyre, Mrs. Reed is an important character for her essential part in Jane＇s growth. The description of this character is through Jane＇s observation and indirect narration; another important means is by Mrs. Reed＇s expression and speeches, which directly reflect her minds. Mrs. Reed＇s speeches are not too many, however, through the analysis of these speeches we can learn about her real ideas and deep feelings, especially the way in which these inner thoughts influence Jane＇s growth.
