Based on the text of The Butcher＇s Wife and focused on the historical context of Li Ang＇s writing, this paper tries to illustrate the fault and prejudice of the novel as a representative feminist work. Insufficient in its creativity and significance, The Butcher＇s Wife is considered as a mock epic in the traditional enlightenment. Its tendency to enlighten such problems as anti - feudalism and sexual consciousness is obvious, but it cloes not study further than showing the tendency.
