The paper introduces a new kind of intelligent instrument for moni- toring the clearance between the brake-show of the hoist. It mainly narrates the instrument about the developing sense,working principle, design to the software and hardware, debug method etc. The instru- ment has been applied in many coal mines, and the well-content effect gotten also.
