摘要
SUIYANG County in northern Guizhou is known in the region as an incubator of poets. County records compiled from the early Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) until today show that a great many Chinese poets emerged from Suiyang. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, poetry writing there has peaked in popularity, and a local poets' society has of the most influential Chinese bards, Zang Kejia, was there in attendance. So amazed was Zang by the local people's enthusiasm for the art that he inscribed the characters for "Poetry County" on a sign. Also in attendance was the wellknown poet He Jingzhi, who commented admirably, "Poetry with a home is poetry with a soul."
