长征精神的基本内涵即坚持党的领导、理论联系实际和切实有力的思想政治工作,要将长征精神转化为当前所需要的思想资源,就要把马克思主义理论教育与广大青年学生的世界观、人生观和价值观教育密切联系起来;马克思主义理论教育的内容和形式必须符合时代和人民群众的需求;同时,应当开展艰苦朴素的传统教育。

The Long March spirit, in essence, embodies the adherence to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, combining theories with practice and solid ideological and political work. To turn this spirit into the ideological resources demanded at present, the education on Marxist theory should be closely connected with the education on world outlook, outlook on life and values of the young students. The contents and forms of the education must eonform to the demands of times and the people and meanwhile the traditional education about hard work and plain life should be strengthened.
