According to his own research experiences of professor Feldman at Stanford University, the articles introduces some missions and innovation process of great university, and gives some suggestions about what a great university, a successful professor as well as a great program should be. Meanwhile, it presents the role of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in science research. Finally the New Initiatives at Stanford University are introduced. All these topics are helpful for China to set up some world famous innovational universities.
