A novel principle of sensor measuring of yarn length and speed is presented. Proof of function has been brought forward experimentally. The result is a contactless working measuring device, which uses electro static charges on the yarn. The developed sensor can be used for measuring the yarn length and speed of many different kinds of yarn material. In practical applications, the sensor can work in fields where there is a lack of economically applicable solutions.
