Grassland agricultural system and sustainable development of agriculture in the Western China

分析了中国西部生态环境恶化的主要原因,依据西部的自然生态环境特点及资源优势,结合前人在该地区开发治理的经验和发展草地农业试点的成果,认为草地农业系统应当在西部开发治理中起主导作用,大力发展草地农业是西部农业实现可持续发展的有效途径.阐述了草地农业在西部生态环境治理与农业经济持续发展中的基础作用及发展草地农业系统的基本方针.

Ecological environmental situation and its main cause of deterioration in western China were analyzed. According to the experience of forefathers＇ achievements for the development of grassland agriculture and local condition, the paper proposed that grassland agricultural system could play an important role in environmental management, and it was an essential way for sustained development of agriculture in the Western China to develop the grassland agriculture. At the same time, the basic role of grassland agricultural system both in ecological and economical development for the local region was discussed, and the basic policy for the development of grassland agriculture was also discussed.
