21世纪人类进入了一个生态经济时代,而生态城市是在生态经济理论的基础上提出的一种理想的城市规划模式。与传统城市相比较,生态城市具有和谐性、高效性、整体性、持续性与区域性特点。生态城市的建设是一个系统工程,它涉及生态环境系统、生态经济系统和生态社会系统,其中生态环境系统是基础,生态经济系统是核心,生态社会系统是保障。建立生态城市必须协同构建可持续发展的城市生态环境系统、可持续发展的城市生态经济系统和可持续发展的城市生态社会系统。

In 21^st century, our modern society has stepped into an eco-era. Eco-city is an ideal city pattern, which is advanced on the basis of the theory of eco-economy. Compared with the traditional cities, it is characteristic of harmoniousness, efficiency, unity, region and sustainability. Eco-city construction is a systematic project, which includes the eco-environment system, eco- economy system and eco-society system. The three systems are respectively the basis, the core and the safeguard in building an eco-city the work of eco-city construction must be in coordination with the work of building sustainable growing systems of eco-environment, eco-economy and eco-society in a city.
