高祖、亚祖、王父考

On the Appellations"Gaozu ,""Yazu "and"Wang Fu "in Bronze Inscriptions

高祖、亚祖、王父考通过对■鼎、■盘、墙盘等金文资料和文献资料分析研究,先秦时期的"高祖"和"皇祖"一样,只是对某一先祖的尊称,不是某一代先祖的专称。"亚祖"是在记述多位先祖时所使用的一个词语,是相对于前一位先祖的称谓,"王父"是祖父的另一称谓,不是"祖父的昆弟"。

There are the appeliations ＂Gaozu 高祖＂ ＂Yazu亚祖＂ and ＂Wangfu王父＂ in Shang and Zhou bronze inscriptions, which are rather different in meaning as their researchers explain. A Study of the inscriptions on the 讆 ding tripod, Lai basin and Qiang basin and other literal data suggests that in pre-Qin times, the ＂Gaozu.＂ identical with ＂Huangzu皇祖＂ was a honorific title for a certain ancestor rather than for the ancestors of a certain generation. ＂Yazu＂ was used in the statement on numerous ancestors. It was an appellation for any male ancestor in ＂the father generation of the person in question rather than for ＂the founder of a branch＂ of a Large family or exclusively for a certain generation of ancestors, ＂Wangfu＂ was another title for the grandfather rather than for ＂brothers ot grandfather. ＂
