Task - based language teaching is a teaching approach that emphasizes learning by doing and doing things with the language. This article cites the definitons of ＂task＂ from many Linguists＇ works, and discusses their implications. The focus of the article is on illustrating the method of how to apply this approach in College English teaching based on the the texts. The author comes to the conclusion that task - based approach does manifest its advantage in cultivating students＇integrated language skills and autonomous learning competence.
