In this paper,we first define the notion of the locally nearly uniform smootbness of sets in Banachspaces. Secondly, we discuss the conditions under which sets or their polars are locally nearly uniformlysmooth. In a suitable context,we give characterizations of the locally nearly uniform smoothness. Finally,wegive applications of our results.
