Objective To discuss the influence of surgical operation on the patients' hearts at high altitude. Methods A total of 156 patients were enrolled into the study, and their electrocardiograms (ECG) were monitored respectively before, during and after surgical operation. Corresponding treatment was administered if abnormal ECG appeared during the operation. Results The positive rates of abnormal ECG before, during and after surgical operation were 25.4% , 68.7% and 13.1% , respectively. Among the 98 patients with abnormal ECG during the surgical operation, there were 80 ones whose ECG returned to normal via treatment. Conclusion There was no additional damage in the cardiac muscle of the patients who were performed surgical operation under the condition of high altitude. Monitoring ECG is of importance for preventing the patients from asymptomatic cardiac ischemia and arrhythmia.
