It is necessary to provide more case studies in the approach to vibration fault diagnosis in rotating machinery. Not only do they provide source materials for theoretical work but also they support the results of theoretical research, and can be also used as references for the technical personnel of measurement in this field. This paper gives typical case studies encountered in practical vibration fault diagnosis of rotating machinery, including vibration features caused by coupling and bearing faults, and 1/2 subharmonic resonance caused by a considerable degree of unbalance. Some problems mentioned above are valuable to the people working in practical fault diagnosis.
