湖南大学筹备处:从书院到大学的关键

The Preparatory Office of Hunan University:the Key Office from an Ancient Academy into a University

岳麓书院之所以能改制为湖南大学,三度成立的湖南大学筹备处起了关键作用。第一次,虽然就书院办大学之计划“议定而事未卒行”,但印入脑海,与日俱深,功莫大焉。第二次,改书院为大学推行四年多时间,讨论中国书院与欧洲大学文科的类同,解决思想认识问题,实际接收并保有岳麓书院积存的田产、山场、契约、图书、仪器、化学药品、标本、金石什物等,留作日后大学之基础。既存文脉于动乱之中,又保财产于强权之世,是其最大的贡献,难能可贵。第三次,将岳麓书院所有一切产业查明接收,变为湖南大学校产,就书院改办大学的夙愿最终达成。

The preparatory office of Hunan University played an important role in the transformation from Yuelu Andent Academy into Hunan University. During the first time, it discussed the plan of changing the Ancient Academy into a university. Although the plan didn＇ t come true, the plan left impression on people. During the second time, it compared Chinese Ancient Academies with European universities of arts and solved the problem of understanding. It took and kept the property of Yuelu Ancient Academy such as fields, hills, contracts, books, equipment, chemical drugs , samples, inscriptions and so on for the founding of Hunan University. During the third time, it found out and took all the property of Yuelu Ancient Academy, and turn it into the property of Hunan University. It made a great contribution to the transformation from an Ancient Academy into a university.
