章学诚在《文史通义》中,对袁枚的《随园诗话》进行了严厉的不公允的批评。之所以如此,是因为二人诗学观点、个性以及处世方式的不同,还有古代文人相轻的陋习。

The article has inquired into the reasons, which Zhang Xuecheng commented Yuan Mei unfairly at that time in the chapter ＂The Coupling Relation of Literature and History ~ Notes on Poets and Poetry＂, and found the reasons led to the unfairness are due to the scholars tending to scorn each other, the differences between their views on poetry and their different personalities and ways of life.
