Invisible Rather than Magnificent Innovation in the Protective Exhibition Building of the Museum of Yangling Emperor Mausoleum of Han Dynasty

汉阳陵帝陵外藏坑保护展示厅建筑是目前我国第一座对近帝陵封土及遗址实现全封闭保护的现代化全地下遗址博物馆。展示厅建筑设计“弃宏大而就无形”,以文物保护为核心,以文化展示为主线,全面运用了多种国际文物保护的先进技术,完整体现了当代国际古迹遗址保护的先进理念,成为我国新一代遗址博物馆建筑的典范。

The Protective Exhibition Hall for tne Outer Buraial Pits of the Yangling Emperor Mausoleum of the Han Dynasty located to the northeast of the tumulus of LIU Qi, the fourth emperor of the West Han Dynasty, is a modern underground museum offering enclosed pr otection for the historic remains which is the first of the type ever built in China Rather than building a magnificent museum the designers chose to render it ＂invisible＂. Making the relic protection and cultural exhibition the main points and employing a number of internationally advanced technology the designers successfully embody in the museum the world＇s latest ideas in that realm, and make it a model for the new relic museums of the country.
