In the current world telecommunication market, the CDMA 2000 1X market is growing slowly, while the WCDMA market is growing at a rapid rate; this trend is especially noticeable in the Chinese market, as China Unicom has drastically cut its investment in CDMA well increased its investment in GSM networks, while China Mobile is also expanding and upgrading its GSM network. According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2006 Chinese operators invested 1.268 billion dollars in the GSM market, or about 10.53 billion Yuan, of which 9.43 billion were made by China Mobile, which will account for 20.1% out of the estimated GSM investment that will be made during the whole year; China Unieom invested 1.1 billion Yuan in the GSM market, which will account for 8.9% of the estimated GSM investment that will be made during the entire year.
