白先勇打造的青春版《牡丹亭》热演两岸三地,走红大江南北,有着明显的白先勇个人因素。青春版《牡丹亭》是白先勇圆“文化复兴”的梦;白先勇制作青春版《牡丹亭》,不仅因为《牡丹亭》是古典昆曲名剧,还因为他认同汤显祖的爱情理念,认同杜丽娘这位“情圣”的心理;青春版《牡丹亭》的制作和演出,是白先勇追求完美的表现。
The youth-oriented version of The Peony Pavilion, which is well received across the straits and throughout the country, is branded with the personal characteristics of its producer Mr. Bai Xianyong. The play is the realization of his ideal of cultural renaissance. His endeavor on the production is not only due to the play's status as a classic of the Kun Opera, but also to his shared view with the original playwright Tang Xianzu on the theme of love, as well as his identification with the mentality of the amorous heroine Du Liniang. The production and the performance of the play, therefore, embody Bai's pursuit of perfection.
