The paper introduces the basic elements of affective factors theory and presents the background that gives birth to affective factors theory. It also covers the role that affective factors play in language learning. Based on affective factors theory and a questionnaire study, the paper makes an analysis of the current situation of instruction for College English of Listening and Speaking course and then suggests some solutions as to teacher＇s role, usage of teaching material, atmosphere in the class, and relation between teachers and learners.
