The article summarizes developments in seven areas such as temperature and humidity;rescue and restoration of archivesl archival repository construction;prevention and treatment of bacteria;durability of archival materials;preservation of new media archives; archive conservation on the basis of classified statistics of relevant papers,books, research subjects and academic rewards over the past ten years.The most important fruits are highlighted, for instance, the innovation in restoration of handwriting by Li Yuhu; a series of research in traditional mounting technology;a national survey of distribution of insects and bacteria;durable paper and carbon paperl basic ink; a sample survey of archives conditions;comparative research into the status of scriptures of 1000 years old and so forth.The reasons for achievemeats are analysed,including professional research institutions and special funds; archives conservation taken as an obligatory course in teaching plan of professional education; promotion and encouragement by the Committee on Archival Preservation Technologyi special columns offered in most professional periodicals and rational leadership system for archives preservation work since the merging of the State Archives Bureau and the CentralArchives
