O. Henry never fails to impress readers with his unique writing style, that is, simple language and unexpected ending. The Last Leaf is a particular example. So, the paper is to analyze the rhetorical activities employed in the story in terms of three levels-clever choice of words, sentence variety, and the arrangement of discourse. With the rhetorical activities used, the writer gradually leads readers to such an impressive and unexpected ending.
