This paper describes the types of main geological calamities on new sites of cities in the Three Gorges reservoir project. According to the typical project cases, it elucidates the formation, development and detriment of collapse, landslide, mud rock flow and reformation and the reservoir bank. It also illustrates the relation between geological environment and mankind project and points out that it is important to utilize reasonably the geological environment in the programme and construction of cities' new sites.
