The Name of Wujixiaowei and Its Fact in the Western Han Dynasty

本文认为,戊己校尉是西汉职官系统中名称极为特殊的官职。西汉朝廷之所以选择天干名称“戊己”为官名,是要利用它在五行说中所具有的多重指代含义,来表达这个官职实际具有的多重政治职能。

This paper thinks that the post of Wujixiaowei in the Western Han Dynasty is a very special official. Why the court of the Western Han Dynasty choose “Wuji”, a name from the Heavenly Stems, as the name of official post? It thinks that the court wants to make use of its various implications in The Five Elements Theory in order to show the political multi-functions of the post in actual operation.
