The program of building up a schoolmaster contingent has always been an educational topic attracting world- wide attention. Though the training work of schoolmasters in China has gradually become standardized and institutionalized after years of great efforts, there still exist some problems. What is conductive to finding out these problems and seeking ways to solve them is to make a comparison between China and foreign countries, thus improving the training work of schoolmasters in China.
