The Central Cultural Revolution Group was an organization set up for launching the "cultural revolution," a result of the leadership system of the Party and its "Left" error going to the extreme in the 1960s. During the "cultural revolution" the Central Cultural Revolution Group developed from a setup of advice for the "cultural revolution" to an organ of supreme power, replacing the Secretariat and the Political Bureau and wielding the real power of the CPC Central Committee. After the Ninth National Congress of the Party Mao Zedong believed that the "cultural revolution" had scored "all - round victory" and hoped to reorganize the Party in order to get the work throughout the country on to the right track. Then the Central Cultural Revolution Group was dissolved.
