摘要
For a long time, China was thought to have no polyphonic singing, which is popular only in the West. But in-the 1950s, noted Chinese musician Zheng Lucheng accidentally discovered what is known as "Dang Zu Da Ge" or grand songs of the Dong ethnic minority group. It proved to be a sensation when a choir performed in France in 1986. It was acclaimed by musicians as a major discovery in the history of Chinese music. Ever since the thinking that China had no polyphonic singing has been put to rest.
