一个民族能否在全球化激烈竞争中取胜,关键是要重塑民族文化,将传统文化与现代文明相结合,增强新时代的民族竞争意识和创新意识,增加民族凝聚力。践行社会主义荣辱观是一项改造主观世界的系统工程,包括“德知”、“德行”、“德制”三大环节,这三个环节既有层次上的递进关系又存在相互渗透的关系。

A key factor for a nation to get a upper hand in the fierce competition of the process of globalization is to see whether this nation has a spirit to aim high and strive persistently. It requires a nation to reshape its national spirit with the combination of modern civilization and its traditional culture so as to call for the consciousness of competition and innovation of the new era. In order to strengthen the national cohesion, it is imperative at present to put the socialist outlook of honor and shame into practice. To do it constitutes a systematic program including the three interlocked stages of ＂morality cognition＂ ,＂moral behavior＂, and ＂institutions for moral purposes＂, which form the relationship of mutual penetration as well as that of stepping-up.
