In conjunction with Beijing Summit of China-Africa Cooperation Forum, two exhibitions were presented in the National Museum of China in early November, 2006, one of coins and stamps from 48 African countries and the other of African handicrafts, to showcase African landscapesand places of historical interest and reviewing its relations with China. In addition, stamps incelebration of the historic summit were released by China Post. State Councilor Madam Chen Zhili cut ribbons to open the two exhibitions and unveiled the model of commemorative stamps. Vice Cultural Minister Madam Meng Xiaosi, Assistant Foreign Minister Mr. Li Hui and Director-General of China Post Mr. Liu Andong spoke at the opening ceremony. Some 200 distinguished guests, including Director of the National Museum of China Mr. Lu Zhangshen, Special Envoy of Ethiopia to China-Africa Cooperation Forum Mr. Hailelekiros Geseesee as well as senior officials and diplomatic envoys from African nations attended the opening and inauguration ceremonies.
