服装专业的突出特点是实践性、艺术性较强,因此其教学必须强调学生动手能力、设计能力、艺术品味的培养。创新实践教学体系,立足能力本位、优化教学计划是前提,建立实习基地是基础,建设"双师型"师资队伍是关键。同时,导入设计室教学法,拓宽艺术实践途径,可以大大提高学生的服装设计能力,增强艺术美感。
