Disempowering and Empowerment:Hong Kong's Experience in Preventing Elder Abuse & Its Enlightenment

虐待老人现象已经成为一个世界性社会问题。香港政府和非政府组织积极研究处理虐待长者问题。香港社工介入虐老防治计划,适时有效地回应了香港长者被虐的问题,推动了香港虐老防治的工作。香港社工介入虐老防治的做法和经验,特别是“充权”理念在虐老防治工作中的应用,可为我国大陆社工介入虐老防治工作的建设和发展提供一些启示和参考。

The phenomenon of elder abuse has become an international social problem. Hong Kong government and nongovernmental welfare units provide appropriate services to protect the elders and to prevent the recurrence of elder abuse. Social workers in Hong Kong apply themselves to enhance the understanding of elder abuse to facilitate the design of public education, services, and policies to prevent and reduce elder abuse. Hong Kong method and experience,especially approaches focused on the empowerment of older persons, are useful reference for the prevention and handling of elder abuse in China mainland.
