This paper objectively illustrates the value of protecting and renovating historical environment to cities and their sustainable development, analyses what methods should be adopted to contribute to the realisation of sustainable objectives in the process of protecting historical environment in cities, and puts forward the small scale, micro-circulatory and gradual reconstruction and renovation method.
