Individuality Freedom and Women Liberation——Comparison of Heroes and Heroines in Natsume Souseki's Love Trilogy

《三四郎》、《后来的事》、《门》是夏目漱石的爱情三部曲,是以主人公的情感为主线,通过情感的变化过程来显示其内心性格的变化的。但从深层剖析,男女主人公却有着很大的差别,悲剧的色彩显示在男性因情感而得到的外在的经济、社会地位上的困难,而在女性身上则仍然没有因为情感的自由而得到真正的解放,在经济、社会地位上更是一筹莫展,对个性自由的追求显得很无奈。而女性的解放也是附从于男性的自由,这个过程是漫长的,是需要更多的努力和经历困苦才能实现的。

The fictions San Si Lang, The Later Incident, and The Door are the love trilogy written by Japanese writer Natsume Souseki. Taking the hero＇ s affections as the main fine, the trilogy reveals the changes of their inner feelings and their personality. Exploring deeply, we can easily see that hero＇ s tragedy is quite different from that of the heroine. For the former, their tragedy is demonstrated by the financial and social problems caused by their affections while for the latter the tragedy is caused by their constrained social and financial status and their helpless- ness to pursue their individuality freedom even they are freed from the emotional constrain. So the women libertion that is attached to the male freedom still has a long way to go.
