English Caused-motion Constructions:A Conceptual Blending Perspective and Their Semantic Interpretation

英语使动结构的形成从复合空间理论能得到较为完满的解释。分别源自语法空间和概念空间的信息通过映射和组合构成复合空间,产生新创结构。使动结构的语义因动词与使动结构之间关系的不同选择而存在差异。从语义扩展、动态作用力关系、交际使动及共现行为等四个方面可对其进行恰当的归类和系统的阐释,以弥补Goldberg(1995)及其他同类研究中讨论不尽全面且语义类别交叉等方面的不足,使我们重新认识使动结构的构式义。

The caused-motlon constructions can be adequately deciphered with reference to conceptual blending theory. In this case, a partial mapping of counterparts from two input spaces （grammar space and conceptual space） results in a blended space with an emergent structure. As the verbs used in caused-motion constructions vary, the constructions may differ in their semantic meanings. However, the complexity of semantic interpretation can be resolved if we examine the relations between the verbs in the constructions and the constructions themselves. The relations can be characterized respectively by elaboration, dynamic force, communicative move and co-occurring activitiy. This approach can be expected to compensate for the inadequate categorization of constructional meanings from the existent studies and provide insights for the diversified yet interrelated meanings.
