中国境内的外文报刊,在历史上曾出现过两次办报高潮,但二者无论是从社会角色、历史地位,还是从其政治角色来说都存在相当大的差异,因此,对此话题的研究多是分离性的,同时也是断代的,具体表现为对两次高潮之间的外文报刊少有涉及,更少有人从历史演进的角度探讨它们多向度的发展轨迹。本文不仅对中国境内外文报刊作了较为完整的历史梳理,而且还从报刊自身发展的角度、外文报刊社会角色的演变,以及其发展轨迹所折射出的我国对外宣传的历史演进等视角对我国外文报刊进行了全面的阐述。

The foreign-language newspapers and periodicals have enjoyed two booms in Chinese history, which differ greatly in almost every sense like the issuer, the social role, and the historical and political significance as well. For this very reason, the study in this area is usually separate and unsystematic. Few people touch upon the newspapers and periodicals between the two booms. Even fewer approach them from the perspective of press development. This paper aims not only at a comprehensive survey of the newspapers and periodicals in Chinese history, but also a study of their changing roles in society, their contributions to the development of the press, and the changing scenes in the international publicity of our country.
