清代文献学家全祖望以史学家的眼光研究历史文献学,取得显著成绩。其在注释学方面有着与前世学者不同的特点:采取多种注释形式,扩大注释范围;不通篇注释字音、字义、词义,将注释重点放在对古籍自身内容的注释上;将自己的历史主张及思想寓于所注释的历史事件中。

In the annotation aspect, Quan Zu-wang adopts many forms and extends the extension of annotation. He is different from others in the annotation. He lays stresses on the annotation of the contents of the ancient books not on the sound and the meanings of characters and phrases, putting his historical stand and idea on the annotated historical events.
