口译中克服文化障碍的符号学视角

On How to Conquer Cultural Barriers in Interpretation from the Perspective of Semiotics

对于口译工作者来讲,具有跨文化意识,帮助交谈双方克服由文化差异而产生的沟通障碍是非常重要的。口译过程中一些尴尬局面的出现,除了语言技能方面的原因外,在很大程度上是由于口译员对中西方文化差异缺乏了解。符号学的研究表明,符号与解释项之间的完全对等是不可能的,在口译过程中要实现语用对等就意味着在进行语言转换的同时必然要克服文化障碍,进行文化转换。

it is very important for an interpreter to possess cross-cultural awareness in order to help the relative two parties overcome their communicating difficulty caused by their cultural differences. The reason why sometimes embarrassments occur is, to a great extent, due to an interpreter＇s ignorance of the cultural differences between the east and the west if his or her language proficiency is not considered. Semiotic research shows that total equivalence can＇t be realized between signs and interpretants. To realize pragmatic equivalence in interpretation means that cultural transformation （conquering cultural barriers） should be conducted at the same time when linguistic transformation is conducted.
