传统节日是一宗重大而又占有特殊地位的民族文化遗产。它是优秀民族文化的重要载体和集中展示方式,也是一种隆重举行的标志性民族文化。保护好传统节日,能促进人际和谐、人与自然的和谐,有助于达成人心与精神的和谐,从而产生社会和谐的强大文化动力。传统节日保护也有利于我国各民族文化的交流与融合,巩固民族团结,增强中华民族的凝聚力。在社会转型和全球化背景下,传统节日文化的复兴与创新是弘扬民族文化的一个重要契机和有效方式。鉴于目前我国法定节假日体系的实际情况,保护传统节日文化最直接、最有效的措施是给除夕、清明节、端午节、中秋节等主要传统节日增加法定假日。

The traditional festival is great cultural heritage for a nation with special significance. It is a civil cultural custom which cycles annually. It is a symbol and a concentrated representation of superior culture, and a typical form of national culture with great ceremonies. Successful convention for the traditional festival will lead to the harmonies between different individuals, between people and the nature, between mentality and spirit, hence produce a strong cultural power of promoting social harmony. Again, convention for the traditional festival also lends great help to the communication and unity of different nations in China, as well as the promotion of identification and patriotism. In the background of social reform and globalization, renaissance of traditional festivals could be a significant opportunity and an effective method to resurrect our national culture. According to the current state of the legal vacation system, the most direct and effective measure to protect the traditional festival is to add legal vacations to main traditional festivals, such as the New Year＇s Eve, the Qingming Festival, the Dragon-Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
