Objective To assess the safety and efficacy of Angioseal arterial puncture closing devices, compared with standard manual compression in patients undergoing coronory angiograpby and percutaneous vascular interventions. Methods Eighty - seven patients undergoing coronory angiography and percutancous vascular interventions were randomly divided into control group( n = 46) and Angioseal group( n = 41). The safety and efficaty of the arterial puncture closing deviee(Angioseal) was evaluated by clinical manifestations and vascular color Doppler uhrasonography. Results The mean time of hemostasis was significantly shorter( P 〈 0.001 ) in the Angioseal group (54 ± 18 seconds) than in the control group (22 ± 6.5 minutes). Time of immobilization was shorter( P 〈 0. 001 ) in the Angioseal group (2.9 ± 0.7 hours) than in the control group (23.6 ± 6.2 hours). There were no major complications in either group, and the incidences of minor complications and the rate of successful hemostasis were not significantly different. Conclusions The use of Angioseal arterial puncture dosing de vices is a safe, effective and simple method after coronary intervention to achieve immediate hemostasis.
