Under the impact of popular culture, Er Yue-he has provided rich experience for the popular writing of historical fiction through his conscious artistic practice. His historical fiction not only emphasizes the worldly desires including the lust for power and passion but has the appeal for the elite which transcended the populace as well. Moreover, he has also ingeniously assimilated the fine folk resources into his historical fiction. His principle of creation has facilitated the diversified development of historical fiction.
