１９９４年下半年世界甲醇供应紧张，价格锐涨。进入１９９５年甲醇供应开始过剩，预计５年内这种局面不会改变。我国甲醇的生产和消费增长均很快，目前仍需少量进口。预计到２０００年，将出现供略大于求的局面，一些技术落后。

In the second half of 1994,the methanol in the world was in short supply,the price raising sharply.But from the year 1995,the supply began to exceed the demand.It is estimated that such situation can not change in the coming five years.However,a small import amount is still needed in China at present,for the methanol production and consumption both increased rapidly.It is predicted that by the year 2000 China will have a small surplus in methanol supply,some small scale methanol plants with backward technique and high consumption will be in difficult situation.
