On the basis of survey employing questionnaires, the study shows that differences exist between music majors and non- majors in regard of music learning, life style and preference. The result of the study reveals that music education and the related activities provided in colleges and universities for non- majors have met their needs. Meanwhile, for the side of music majors, skills and western music are regarded as more important than general literacy and Chinese traditions. Thus, it is necessary to reflect on the provisions of courses in order to justify a balanced curricular.
