在东西方文化的共生共成中,西方的“东方化”过程将变得日益重要。对西方的自由主义与民主政治所面临的困境,中国儒家传统中含有许多与桑德尔所开药方相通的一致之处。儒家“礼”的学说并不意味着个人与社会的相互依存必然导致“无我”的结果。在美国,我们只能把我们脆弱的自由主义民主与儒家思想所提倡的更深厚的社群观念调和起来。

In the symbiosis of western and eastern cultures, the orientalization of the West will become increasingly important. For the difficult situation faced by the western liberalism and democratic politics, traditional Chinese Confucianism contains solutions similar to those of Zander. The Confucian doctrine of ＂ceremonial rites and regulations＂ does not mean that the interdependence between an individual and society will lead to ＂egolessness＂. In the US, we can not but reconcile our fragile liberal democracy and the more profound ideas of social community proposed by Confucians.
