Two Meanings of Economic Development of Minority Nationalities and Their Relationship

少数民族经济发展包含着两层含义:少数民族地区经济的发展和少数民族特色经济的发展,前者是经济学意义上的发展,后者是民族学意义上的发展。在经济市场化过程中,如果单纯强调少数民族地区经济在经济学意义上的发展,民族学意义上的少数民族的特色经济就有可能衰退甚至消亡。如何认识和处理这两层含义的少数民族经济发展之间的关系,是中国少数民族经济学科研究的一个具有重要现实意义的课题。

Economic development of minority nationality contains two meanings, one is economic development in minority areas and the other is economic development characterized by minority nationality. The former is the development from the perspective of economics and the later from ethnology. In the process of market economy, if the former is only emphasized, the later will fade away and even disappear. So, it is an important and practical issue of Chinese minority nationality economics, to understand and handle the relationship between these two different economic developments.
