This paper proposes the definition of spatial analysis and four levels to fulfill its function, analyzes its existing condition based on GIS, illustrates the characters, functions and application spheres of. intelligent computing tools which are taking neural net, evolutionary computing and artificial life as main representations, and points out that they would offer well prospect for the development of spatial analysis in the future.
